I've been following the work that these guys have been doing on and off as they are located in London.

I wish I could be a part of this because although we're not there yet, Australia is going in the same direction and it's only a matter of time before we've caught up to the same ridiculous laws that they have.

Found an interesting article on boingboing yesterday - UK Independent editor claims it may steal any image posted to flickr.

Worth a read I reckon. I can't believe people can think that they can get away with stuff like this... and in turn if it had happened to them, they would be annoyed just as the victim is in the first place.

From that, turns out they have now offered an apology and payment for use of the image.

Lesson of the day - don't steal images!

MIT Professor of Vision Science Edward H. Adelson made this optical illusion: the A & B squares are both the same colour.

I had to check on photoshop because my brain can't tell! The RGB values are both 120-120-120 for both squares.

drawings on LSD

Nine drawings

These 9 drawings were done by an artist under the influence of LSD -- part of a test conducted by the US government during it's dalliance with psychotomimetic drugs in the late 1950's. The artist was given a dose of LSD 25 and free access to an activity box full of crayons and pencils. His subject is the medico that jabbed him.

First drawing is done 20 minutes after the first dose (50ug)

An attending doctor observes - Patient chooses to start drawing with charcoal.

The subject of the experiment reports - 'Condition normal... no effect from the drug yet'.

This all began while I was browsing a blog – Confessions of a Photographer. Bert Stephani started doing a personal photgraphy project called The 50/50 Project.

I was inspired.

This was just the idea and project I needed.

I was so excited at the prospect of the idea that I couldn’t sleep that night. All I could think about was how I was going to move forward with it, what was involved and how I can achieve what I want.

So with that out of the way, there is not much else left to be said.

I’m editor, designer, and founder Laura Brunow Miner, and I will select a few dozen of the best items from each theme to appear in each showcase.

Why just one photo? I want you to pick your best image — and, it’s really interesting to compare work from different contributors on the same topic. Other sites offer photo essays and bodies of work from one photographer, but I want to help a diverse group of people put together collaborative photo essays.

While Pictory is currently a one woman operation, I couldn’t have done it without the help of a few incredible people. First, I have to thank my husband Wilson Miner for being willing to talk through this project with me day and night for the last several months. Without his invaluable insights and contributions, none of this would have come together. Second, I want to thank web developer and friend Jeff Croft for taking my designs from mockup to reality.
